Sienna stood in the doorframe; “I’m heading to Lukas’s. I’m not sure when I’ll be back.”
Jake stood up and walked over to her.
“See, I told you. Are you going to be okay?”
“Yeah. I got this. I’ll see you later,” she said, Jake watched as she walked out the front door.
When Sienna got to Lukas’s apartment building, she rang his buzzer and waited, Lukas answered and told her to head on up and walk right in. When she entered his apartment she could see him sitting outside on the balcony. He was wearing his torn denim jeans, a black shirt and his leather jacket. Sienna assumed he must have just finished a recording session. He looked up and saw her walking toward him, he acknowledged her with a smile as she sat down beside him.
“Hi,” she said.

“I just got back from the studio and I knew you were coming. I just needed some air. Are you cold? We can go inside.”

The two of them stood up and made their way inside. Sienna sat down on the sofa while Lukas went to the kitchen.
“Coffee?”
“Tea please,” Sienna said.
He handed her the tea and then grabbed his coffee and sat down beside her.
“Is everything all right?” He asked.
“Yeah, fine. I just wanted to talk to you.”
“I’m sorry, babe. All this talk about the baby just got to me and I needed some time to get my head around. I know I’ve been an ass about it, and I’m sorry. I just wasn’t sure what I wanted to do.”
Sienna sipped her tea and sat there listening to Lukas. Despite being pregnant, all she wanted to do was lean forward, tear his clothes off and fuck him.
“Lukas, I know how hard this must be for you. I’ve only just finished having this conversation with Jake. He’s left in the dark also. But like I explained to him, you have to look at this from my perspective. Yes there is a chance that you’re the father, but there’s also the likelihood that it could be Jake. “There’s something else I should tell you, Lukas.”

“I had my ultrasound with Dr. Hughes earlier today. I’m having twins.”
Lukas froze. His eyes widened; “Twins?” He asked, not sure if he’d heard correctly.
“Yep. Thirteen and a half weeks, it’s still a little early to determine the sex, but Dr. Hughes said there’s definitely two in there. And I heard their heartbeats.”
“You did?”

“As much as I pray this isn’t true, we need to discuss what happens if you don’t turn out to be the father. Will it be the end of us?” Her voice was shaky.
Lukas sighed and stood, he began pacing the living room.
“Lukas?”
“Sienna, I’ve been asking myself the same question now for weeks. If Jake turns out to be the father… ” he paused, Sienna stood up and walked over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist. Lukas placed his hand over hers before releasing Sienna’s grip and walking away.
“Lukas? What is it?” She asked, slightly concerned.
“I’ve looked at this from every possible angle. I’ve seen my side, your side, even Jake’s side, and I just keep coming back to the same answer.”
“And what’s that?” She asked.
“When you first told me that I could potentially be the father, I freaked out. I mean, I don’t know the first thing about being a parent.”
“Lukas you’re not going to do it alone, we’ll be learning together. Do you think I have any clue about being a parent? I’m freaking out just as much as you are.”
“But Sienna you’ve got younger siblings, you would have been around to change their diapers, feed them and all that. I’m an only child, I’m clueless with all that stuff.”
“That doesn’t mean I know the first thing about parenting. Lukas, nobody ever said this was going to be easy, I don’t think there’s an instruction manual on how to be a perfect parent either.”
“Sienna I’m serious.”
“I know, and so am I. Why are you freaking out so badly about this?”
He remained silent for a few seconds, Sienna could see that there was more to this than he was letting on.
“Lukas?”
“Sienna, my career is soaring right now. The next year is jam-packed with interviews, recordings and not to mention, tours. I’m going to be on the road a lot more now, which means I won’t be around a lot. I don’t know if I’m going to have the time to… ”
“To be a father? I get it.”

“Forget it, Lukas. I get it, you don’t have to explain. Clearly your career is more important than a child. You’ve made your point quite clear.”
“Sienna, just STOP! Geez, don’t you ever get tired of listening to the sound of your own voice?”

“You heard. If you just shut up for more than five seconds, maybe we can have a proper conversation.”

“Lukas you’re the one who’s making this all about your career.”
“I wasn’t making this about my career, Sienna. All I was trying to say was that the timing isn’t great right now. But that doesn’t mean that I’m going to let you do this on your own.”
“So what are you saying?”
“What I’m saying is, if these twins turn out to be mine, I’ll put my career on hold.”
“You mean you’d really do that? I know you’ve said that to me before, but I wasn’t pregnant then.” Sienna said, her eyes filling with tears.
“Of course I would. Sienna, do I need to remind you that you rock my world? I’ll always be here with you, no matter what.”
She burst into tears and threw her arms around him, sobbing in his shoulder.

“Adam does know that you’re pregnant, right?”
Sienna nodded. “Adam’s been great about it. He’s given half my workload to Deb to ease the pressure, it’s helped a little bit but there’s still a lot of work to do. I’ll be glad when I’m finally on Christmas vacation.”
“How’s everything with the twins?”
“Good. I had my appointment with Dr. Hughes this morning before I went into work. They’re both growing beautifully.”

“Are you all right?” She asked.

Jake went to the fridge, grabbed a flyer, and dialed the number of the Chinese place that they regularly got take out from.
After dinner, the two of them sat on the sofa, flicking through the channels trying to decide what to watch.
“Why is it that there’s never anything good on TV?” Jake asked.
“I reckon they do it on purpose, just so they can make people get cable.” Sienna said.

“Just because I didn’t feel it, doesn’t mean you didn’t. Maybe it’s just too early for someone else to experience that as well.” Jake said, smiling and trying to give her some comfort.
